Six years of investigation are over.
After being removed from all activity in 2015, a Swiss court today (Tuesday) convicted Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini of fraud and criminal proceedings against the two will begin in the coming months.
As you may recall, former FIFA and UEFA presidents have been accused that Blatter transferred to Platini in 2011 about $ 2 million of the organization's funds for personal purposes.
Blatter was subsequently fired and after six years of interrogation, was convicted of forgery of documents, misappropriation of funds and fraud.
"This payment harmed FIFA's assets and illegally enriched Platini," federal prosecutors in Switzerland said in a statement. "The evidence gathered confirmed that this payment to Platini was made without a legal basis," they added.
