At least three people were killed by torrential rains that caused floods in Brazil.
The Associated Press quoted the Brazilian government as saying today that it has declared a state of emergency in nearly 50 cities in the states of Bahia and Minas Gerais due to heavy rains that caused floods and killed at least three people.
Powerful storms in recent days were triggered by the passage of a subtropical cyclone over the Atlantic, cutting waters off dozens of cities and collapsing homes and bridges.
The authorities have not yet reported the total number of people affected.
