The Minister of Internal Security, Amar Bar-Lev, met today (Monday) with the US Deputy Secretary of State and issued a tweet that caused a stir.
"I met today with the US Deputy Secretary of State, Mrs. Victoria Noland," said Minister Bar-Lev, adding that "the Deputy Secretary of State was interested, among other things, in settler violence and how to reduce tensions in the region and strengthen the Palestinian Authority."

In another tweet, the Minister of Internal Security detailed the meeting between the two and said: "I told her that increasing the work permits for Palestinians in Israel, both from Judea and Samaria and Gaza, which we are already carrying out, is key to reducing tensions just like implementing a joint industrial zone on the outskirts of Gaza and more.
"American assistance for such projects can help a lot."
Bar-Lev's colleague in the government, Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked, objected to Bar-Lev's remarks and tweeted: "You are confused, the settlers are the salt of the earth, the pioneers from the valley and the mountain. "Only because they are Jews, and all this with the encouragement and support of the PA. I recommend that you talk about this violence with Ms. Noland."
