The Internal Security Committee was born as a coalition constraint.
It was split from the Interior Committee, in a kind of plastic surgery, so that the RAAM would not sit on the shard of the police. Contrary to Norwegian law which turned out to be distorted and inflated, precisely here - Dare came out sweet.
The vitality of the committee is mainly in the accountability it requires from the authorities. Yes, those whose failures we saw and experienced in full force in the riots last May. In the last two weeks, the committee has held a variety of discussions, the public value of which is invaluable. Among other things, it held a discussion on the police's conclusions following Operation Wall Guard and preparations for the future, a discussion on the police's handling of the phenomenon of praise, the IPS 'conduct regarding wardens and security prisoners, a discussion on the phenomenon of agricultural crime and more. In addition, the committee exits the pleasant air-conditioner of the Knesset and descends into the area with impressive frequency. She was in the Southern District, in Ofer Prison and later also in Lod.
Here's one example of importance: This is the first time, in more than half a year, that the police's summaries of its operation during Operation Wall Guard have been exposed to sunlight. For the first time, we saw the scope of events and their layout in an orderly fashion. On one of the Wall Guard days, for example, the police dealt with 90 riots at the same time. It is a psychic number, which requires reference in future thought. The deputy chief of police said he could not attend the next event with better ability than a director.
The committee's chairman, MK Meirav Ben-Ari, is not sick of the means.
The sense of urgency is evident in her, and she is not ashamed to demand answers, even when unpleasant.
It's not just the management of the committee, it's also the choice of who to invite, who to receive, to whom to give the right to speak, and to whom to make it clear that his performances will be made elsewhere and not at the expense of a substantive discussion.
She does it elegantly and assertively, without fuss.
On top of that, she is not afraid to criticize the media, whose choice of investigations into disorders is puzzling and almost scandalous, and tries to engineer reality in retrospect.
The remarks of the commissioner during and after Operation The Wall Guard, on "two sides" and "separation between the hawks", and the remarks of the minister in charge, Amar Bar-Lev, only strengthen the role of Ben Ari and the committee she took on and which she designs. A real ray of light.
