The four friends he knew in high school - Ron, David, Lior and Nehorai - chose combat service because "it is first and foremost the values: come to be warriors and defend the country" • And what are their ambitions? "As high as possible, and always together"

Four friends, who were born and raised together in Ashkelon, are now enlisting together as paratroopers.

The Southern Quartet was formed at the IDF Preparation Center in the city when they were placed together in the same team and since then, for the past two years, they have become inseparable and true friends. As high as possible, and always together, "they promised.

The friendship started in high school, crystallized even more in the preparation center, and today nothing will separate them anymore - perhaps except the various outings.

"The basis of friendships is not because we are on the same team," emphasizes Ron Segov. Between us but also, and most importantly, to crystallize. "

The experiences they went through as residents of the South led them to opt for meaningful combat service.

"Our initial goal was to enlist in combat service," says David Nikitin. "No matter which unit, the main thing is to be fighters. ".

On Operation The Wall Guard, which took place six months ago, Nikitin proudly says he was "a little stronger than previous operations."

However, he adds with a sense of sourness about the routine of life not far from Gaza: "We are used to it."

His friend Lior Lebowski also experienced the operation firsthand, beyond running to shelters, staying in security guards and alarms.

What strengthened the future warriors' commitment and desire to contribute was the struggle for home.

"I believe that war is an integral and even everyday part of life, it is what has strengthened the desire to protect the home," explains Nehorai Kemerliker.

"We feel we have a commitment to repay the protection our military gives us," Nikitin said in a conversation.

"Without it, we could no longer have the city of Ashkelon, and perhaps not Tel Aviv either. This desire to be in combat service is actually the desire to protect our family, our loved ones and those we love."
