A game turned into a violent incident, the students documented and distributed it on social media - this can be seen in a video that ran on the net, in which a young student is seen, on which other students pour detergent. Although the student shouted "enough" and burst into tears, other students laugh at her and even hit her with a broom. According to the Ministry of Education, the abusive students were suspended from the school and that "the continuation of their studies at the school is conditional".
The incident began with a game with water in the bathroom, but the students began pouring detergent on the student and did not stop even when she resisted. The Ministry of Education stressed that this is a "serious and difficult incident, in which it crosses every red line and violates every behavioral norm expected of students in an educational institution." The injured student is closely accompanied by the school counselor, and according to the Ministry of Education she receives a "broad envelope" of emotional and therapeutic support.
The Ministry of Education said that the incident of violence joins a series of events in the education system - which come against the background of the consequences of the corona crisis.
The ministry has allocated about half a billion shekels in favor of a program to prevent violence in educational institutions, in order to implement in schools a "series of in-depth programs" that are expected to lead to changes.
