The interventions of the members of the first forum for the chemical industries, which was held today with the participation of about 250 chemical industrialists at the Sheraton Aleppo Hotel, focused on the demand for an increase in the volume of electric power allocated to the industrial sector and the allocation of the affected industrialists who were unable to rehabilitate their facilities in divisions in the industrial cities and the exemption of the affected facilities from fees and taxes during their downtime For work and scheduling debts industrial borrowers.

They also demanded the need to simplify the procedures for issuing import licenses, amend the mechanism for granting environmental approvals for import and customs clearance operations, renew chemical specifications to keep pace with global development, monitor the Aleppo laurel soap industry, implement property protection, provide raw materials used in the glass industry, and automate and reform the tax legislation law.

Ziad Sabbagh, Minister of Industry, spoke in his speech about the severe damage to the infrastructure of the industrial sector in Aleppo as a result of terrorism and the government’s efforts to recycle the wheel of production by achieving joint cooperation between the public and private sectors to build and reconstruct what was destroyed by the terrorist war, calling for a scientific approach to develop the damaged facilities and production, which It comes within the context of holding this forum as a practical application, a translation of the cooperation of the chambers of industry with scientific and economic experts, and to come up with results that contribute to the advancement of the industrial reality, stressing that all the proposals presented will be the focus of the ministry’s attention and work will be implemented.

In turn, Dr. Omar Salem, the Minister of Internal Trade and Industrial Consumer Protection, called for continuous communication with the ministry to overcome the difficulties related to the implementation of Decree No. 8 and to achieve participatory decision-making that would serve industrialists and increase production, especially with regard to securing energy carriers and providing raw materials and industry requirements.


Fares Al-Shihabi noted Aleppo's distinction in chemical industries, especially pharmaceuticals, plastics, cardboard and leather, calling for securing the appropriate investment environment for industrialists in order to motivate them to produce, pointing out that the conference proposals will be the focus of the government's attention through participatory decision-making and work to overcome the difficulties related to securing energy carriers and production requirements.

At the conclusion of the work of the conference, the participants recommended to expedite the issuance of the law of the affected areas, the installation of industrial clusters in the specified industrial areas, the issuance of a law to provide justice to the owners of bad loans, raising the daily withdrawal ceiling from private banks by five million Syrian pounds per day, combating counterfeit materials in the market, and amending the Syrian standard specifications according to international European standards. Activating bilateral agreements with friendly countries, including veterinary medicines in export lists, adjusting electrical rationing hours for some industrial areas, protecting Aleppo laurel soap production through adherence to the industrial registry, rationalizing import of plastic granules, providing glass, and amending the investment law according to the recommendations of the Third Industrial Conference.

The conference activities were attended by Hussein Diab, Governor of Aleppo, Ahmed Mansour, Secretary of the Aleppo branch of the party, and a host of economic activities.
