On the occasion of Christmas and New Year's Eve, a popular celebration was held this evening near Ugarit Square in Lattakia, during which a Christmas tree, about 29 meters high, was lit.
Karam Zureik, one of the main contributors to organizing the celebration, hoped that the coming year would bring all that is good for the Syrian people and the whole world, while Dr. Hassan Hazirini also considered one of the contributors to this celebration that the Christmas tree and the festive rituals accompanying it call for optimism in the future, wishing happiness prevail. The Syrian people, who have long suffered to preserve their beloved country, Syria.
The event received a response from many people of all ages, including children, youth and the elderly, and was filled with dancing and singing to celebrate the advent of Christmas and the New Year.
The two children, Helen and Yasmine Al-Halabi, said that they came with their father to celebrate with the people and share the fun and to see how the tree is decorated and lit with colors of joy.
Lynn Jbara, an architecture student, said that she came to see the tree, considering that seeing people happy is happiness in itself.
