Daraa-Sana
On the occasion of Christmas and New Year's Eve, the Christmas tree was lit in the city of Izraa in the countryside of Daraa.
The Mar Elias Ceremonial Troupe held a party in the city square that included folk dances, performances by the scout troupe and songs, and the children of Mar Elias Church presented some dances inspired by the occasion.
Archbishop Elias Al-Dabai, Metropolitan of Bosra Houran and Jabal Al-Arab for the Melkite Roman Catholics, congratulated the audience on the approaching Christmas, expressing his hope that the coming year would be a year of good and peace, pointing to the meanings of the birth of Christ and the feelings of joy that Christmas gives.
The participants expressed their joy at lighting the tree, expressing their hope that the Syrians would put their hands in the hands of each other to build a new Syria based on love and peace.
