At the vaccination center in Herrsching, the children's vaccinations against the coronavirus started over the weekend.

The first 120 cans of Biontech were inoculated on Saturday.

Herrsching - "Welcome to the vaccination", it says on the wall. A few painted pictures hang next to it, a Christmas tree can be seen on it, a Red Cross house - and a red virus that a green syringe kills off. Those in charge of the district and the BRK district association have intentionally designed the vaccination center in Herrsching, where the children's vaccinations against the corona virus started on Saturday.

The district currently has 10,000 children's vaccine doses from Biontech.

The first around 120 cans were vaccinated on Saturday.

District Administrator Stefan Frey also sees the vaccinations of five to eleven year olds as “a means against the fifth wave”, as he said.

The Standing Vaccination Commission recommends children of this age group with previous illnesses or, if desired, vaccination against Covid-19.

“We don't want to force the vaccination on the children.

It is important to us that you get vaccinated either for medical reasons or of your own accord, ”Jan Lang emphasized in view of the recommendation.

The first vaccination against Corona is entered in the passports: Beatrice Ostner came to the vaccination campaign with her children Carlotta (11) and Victor (8).

The BRK district manager was in Herrsching with his deputy Andreas Kahl.

The Stiko had also advocated vaccination for children who live with people who feared a severe course.

This applies to Markus Schlosser, who lives in Oberpfaffenhofen with his 90-year-old grandparents under one roof.

"I don't want to get the virus," said the eight-year-old.

"We didn't think about it for long," added mother Marion Schlosser (38) - also because of the situation at school.

"We always wondered what the result of the test would be."

It's almost done: Andreas (9) lets Dr.

Simone Gruber (37) works at the Gauting vaccination center. "As a veterinarian, I am medically burdened and absolutely in favor of the vaccination," she said after filling out the vaccination sheet for son Andreas (9). Another reason for them: the "sword of Damocles quarantine" for contact persons. "The quarantine is worse for the children than for us adults," emphasized her friend, the art historian Beatrice Ostner (42). Nevertheless, the decision gave her "a brief stomachache". After looking through reputable sources, she came to the conclusion "that the vaccination is the right thing," said the mother of three. A relief is that with the vaccination protection for Carlotta (11), who is attending the sixth grade of a high school, and for third grader Victor (8), the quarantine obligation no longer applies. For the four-year-old baby, the question of vaccination does not yet arise. Carlotta was visibly relieved after the injection. "I was afraid that I would get Corona bad." And Victor said: "I feel safe now." Ten-year-old Lucille justified her vaccination decision with "I wanted to protect my family". She and her mother, the architect Kristin Fries (47), came from Oberpfaffenhofen for vaccination day.

From now on, the colorful pictures painted by the children should make the walls in Gewerbestrasse 5 colorful, explained vaccination center manager Nicole Scheibenpflug.

Adults are also vaccinated there on other days.

The offspring only get a third of the dose - and more time.

"The parents have more questions, so an educational discussion can take longer," reported Lang.

Instead of seven minutes, as is the case with adults, the BRK calculates that it takes 19 minutes for children from registration to vaccination.

This is followed by 15 minutes in the supervision room.

Lang attaches great importance to the fact that “the place where children are vaccinated is a place of security and understanding”.

In January, the children should get full vaccination protection with the second injection.

District Administrator Frey has appointments for his three children on December 23rd.

However, he and his wife were initially unsure whether everyone should get the injection.

"With the eleven-year-old we agreed immediately," said Frey.

The parents finally decided on the younger siblings (7 and 9) as well.

"In our eyes it makes sense because the fifth wave is spread over the children and young people".

He's not worried.

"They are vaccinated against everything," said Frey.

"But I understand the need for clarification."
