Karlsfeld - Five times in a row, every year since 2017, the Fachoberschule Karlsfeld (FOS) has organized an elaborate and heartfelt donation campaign.

This time there were exactly 97 parcels that were put together for refugee children in the accommodations on Hochstrasse and Parzivalstrasse.

“Christmas in a shoebox” is the name of the campaign organized by the student co-responsibility (SMV).

Henrike Drößler was there for the first time, she is the new head girl. She was supported by Freya Flint, Janina Barteln and Erik Broussard. But the staff also gave a lot of help. Because the will to do a good deed is one thing, the logistical implementation is the other. The boys and girls in the accommodations are between two and 14 years old and are of course happy to receive a wide variety of gifts. That is why there was an extensive list with over 70 suggestions: for clothing, toys, hygiene articles, school supplies. This list is impressive: there was a hint from the team for every age group and every gender. So all children would be happy about gloves. However, boys between ten and 14 probably no longer have a headband. And lip gloss is given to girls, which seems very plausible.

Each of the 15 FOS classes packed an average of five packages.

This time there were also sustainable packing instructions: “Decorate a shoe box as a gift box.

Important: Stick on the lid separately and stick on the lower part separately - so the child can continue to use it as a box. ”This board was in the foyer of the school, together with the empty shoeboxes.

Because of course they had to be brought in huge numbers.

The SMV asked Shoe4You in Karlsfeld.

There, friendly saleswomen had already collected 60 boxes for them at the end of November.

“They just went into our little car,” says Henrike Drößler.

A week later the second load.

What used to be a little Christmas with some refugee children and their parents was this time a pure handover.

But one with a heart: The students were extremely happy to have completed the mammoth task.

Max Eckardt from the Helferkreis thanked everyone for their commitment: “You have put a lot of effort into it.” He knows how popular the parcels are with the children.

And Franz Elender from the board of directors of the school association crowned the whole thing with a check for 500 euros for the refugee work.
