A man was arrested Wednesday in Utah on charges of kidnapping a woman for weeks from a home whom he beat, raped and tortured, according to Salt Lake City police.

Ramone Martinez, 39, faces one count of aggravated kidnapping and five counts of aggravated rape, according to the probable cause affidavit issued upon his arrest.

After receiving a tip about a woman being held against her will inside a home, a Salt Lake City police officer went to the home, according to the affidavit.

The woman sent a cell phone message to someone,

in which she said she feared for her life, according to the document, and that person, whose identity has not been disclosed, was the one who alerted the police

When the agent arrived at the home, Martinez had his hand in his jacket pocket.

Seeing the silhouette of a pistol, he ordered her to raise her hands.

Martínez obeyed and was arrested.

The agent then spoke with the woman, who had "severe bruises on both eyes," according to the statement.

He told the officer that his ribs hurt and that he was having trouble breathing.

“She stated that for several weeks they threatened her with death and attacked her.

During this time he could not leave or go anywhere freely, ”

the document says.

The woman assured the agent that she was attacked six times and that on two of those occasions she was strangled, according to the affidavit.

On another occasion, the suspect put a knife to his throat, he said.

The woman assured that the suspect also "grabbed a knife and engraved the number 6 on the victim's left hand saying that she had 6 months to love him or be killed," the statement said.

Martinez was taken to a hospital to be evaluated for high blood pressure.

There, the man admitted, without being asked, to strangling the woman and added that he did so during a consensual sexual relationship, according to the affidavit.

The man also threatened to go to Mexico and kill the woman's brother, according to the document.

Martinez has claimed to be a millionaire with another home in Arizona, which has many guns and "access to a great deal of money."

He was booked into the county jail.

It was unclear Thursday morning if Martinez had an attorney.

According to the statement, Martinez is likely to flee if released on bail, because he has business contacts in California, Oregon and Arizona.
