The Ministry of Economy and Industry today (Thursday) issued a warning notice against playing with metal "Pokemon" cards.
According to the office's standardization commissioner, Igor Dusklowitz, an eight-year-old boy was injured in the palm of his hand and needed stitches due to the game - and therefore wants to "immediately stop the children's use of the product."
The warning was issued by the ministry to the parents and the educational staff.
After receiving the report of the injury, the Ministry of Economy and Industry began investigating how the product was imported, along with tests of several models of the metal playing card.
An initial examination of the Pokemon cards revealed that "the metal edges on the cards pose an unreasonable risk of injury such as a deep skin cut".
In addition, not all of the importer and manufacturer's details were marked on the cards, in violation of the Standards Act - and there is a suspicion that the cards do not meet the standard requirements in even more severe sections.
