A 9-year-old boy was killed this Thursday afternoon, hit by a train in La Frette-sur-Seine (Val-d'Oise), while he was on the tracks.
The boy, who would have, according to the first elements collected, autism disorders, would have escaped the vigilance of his parents and found himself on the tracks.
The accident happened at 5.30 p.m. near the Frette station, about 400 meters from a level crossing.
The conductor of the arriving J line train was unable to brake in time and collided with the little boy in front of him.
Parents in shock taken to hospital
Significant aid was deployed on the spot.
Eighteen firefighters intervened in particular, discovering the lifeless body of the small victim.
The emergency services also had to take care of the parents of the child, in a state of shock.
They were transported to the René-Dubos hospital center in Pontoise, just like the train driver, also shocked by the terrible accident.
The public prosecutor, the mayor of La Frette, Philippe Audebert as well as the police commissioner of the district came to the scene of the tragedy.
During the intervention, rail traffic was interrupted in both directions.
The 150 passengers of the line J train which collided with the child had to remain in the cars for their part.
The train could not return to Herblay station until around 8:30 p.m.
An investigation has been opened to determine the precise circumstances of the tragedy.
