Two men died Thursday, January 6 afternoon in a helicopter crash at the Col du Béal (Puy-de-Dôme), AFP learned from the gendarmerie.

The private helicopter, which was to take off at 3.30 p.m. from Villefranche-sur-Saône (Rhône) to Brive-la-Gaillarde (Corrèze), was reported lost around 5.30 p.m. by the control center, according to the same source.
The aircraft, in flames, was located around 6.30 p.m. at the Col du Béal, which rises to 1400 meters above sea level.
The two men on board, whose identities were not immediately specified, had died on arrival of help, said the gendarmerie.

An investigation was entrusted to the air transport gendarmerie, as well as to the research section of the air transport gendarmerie, based in Roissy, in the Paris region.
