Mystery: Why did a chicken try to infiltrate one of the most secure structures in the world? | Israel today

Pentagon security guards rubbed their eyes in astonishment • A chicken tried to break through security circles and enter the ultra-classified office building • How did the story end? The details of the most bizarre intrusion ever into a security compound

Anyone who has ever watched a thriller knows that it is not easy to break into particularly secure enclosures, and even in movies, which are of course untrue and sometimes quite absurd, the spies make quite significant technological and physical efforts to get into the critical intelligence office or secret base.

And perhaps that is why the media received with such great amusement the fact that a particularly unusual spy tried to enter the Pentagon, one of the most secure buildings in the world - a chicken.

• Everything you need for winter on sale

Last Monday, security guards at the huge, classified office building spotted a roaming chicken trying to enter the building, "as she tried to peck her way in," as they put it.

Security personnel rushed to the Arlington County Animal Protection Authority, where the Pentagon is located, to catch the intruder and take her to a shelter.

The big question is how did a hen get to the Pentagon.

The Pentagon area, located on the other side of the Potomac River, opposite the city of Washington, is not particularly characterized by farms and is relatively densely populated.

It is possible that the farm animal escaped from some living area in the area and reached the Pentagon in some way.

The American media received the story with great amusement, and dealt, among other things, with the question of whether it was an exciting espionage case such as the Israeli eagle in Saudi Arabia or the shark of the Mossad that allegedly acted against tourism in Sinai.

The Animal Welfare Authority, however, is dealing with a much more fundamental question.

"This chicken was caught sneaking into the Pentagon (we are not kidding) and our people were called to come and pick it up. Sergeant Balena brought her safely to the shelter, where she would stay until a new home was found for her. Now we need a place for her - suggestions are welcome."

The amused surfers of course suggested original names, such as star (the shape of the Pentagon) and face.

And yes, the name James Bond also came to the table.
