Opinion | "Apartheid"? Hate Prevention Campaign Israel today

2022-02-01T20:36:59.701Z

The definition used by organizations such as Amnesty, HRW, B'Tselem and others for "apartheid" lacks any legal basis.

Yesterday, through a report claiming that Israel is an "apartheid" state within all its borders and committing crimes against humanity, Amnesty International declared war on the basic principle of Zionism. As a Jewish state, using expressions that resonate with antisemitic language such as "Jewish control" and "Jewish supremacy."

Among other things, it was argued that the purpose of the establishment of the State of Israel was a Jewish takeover of the region, and that "the apartheid regime began in 1948."

At the last minute, and only after the draft report was leaked and condemnations from around the world, Amnesty removed the final determination from the final report.

The report is significant for various reasons, but the first is the fact that it most accurately reveals and describes the purpose of the delegitimization movement against Israel, led by human rights organizations. The purpose of the publication is one: to make clear that the establishment of the Jewish state was a crime. And only by dissolution will it be possible to do justice. In the eyes of its authors and allies, the right of self-determination in a sovereign state should be denied to the Jewish people.

As in similar publications by B'Tselem and Human Rights Watch, this report defines laws that reflect Israel's unique role as the nation state of the Jewish people as serious crimes. Other democracies - defined as a racist law.

This is not surprising when it comes to an organization like Amnesty, whose senior executives have been involved in several antisemitic incidents in the past, including antisemitic remarks against British MPs, a 2015 decision not to investigate anti-Semitism, and the publication of a 2019 report claiming tourist arrivals to the Old City and the Western Wall For war crimes.

The organization is also working with the International Criminal Court in The Hague to open an investigation against senior Israeli officials, runs the site "70 years of the Nakba strangulation", and promotes a variety of BDS campaigns such as a demand for an embargo on Israel and campaigns against tourism companies operating in Israel.

The timing of Amnesty's announcement also points to the broader campaign - involving more than a dozen NGOs - to convince the world that Israel is an illegitimate state.

The series of publications calling Israel "apartheid" - based on distortions of international law and state laws and policies - paves the way for some UN bodies, which are currently working on reports that are expected to infect this phrase with Israel.

The campaign is also intended to influence the Attorney General of the International Court of Justice, in an attempt to force him to file indictments against senior Israeli officials for committing the "apartheid" crime.

Many of the organizations claiming that Israel is an "apartheid" state - including Israeli, Palestinian and international - have met with the court's former prosecutor and are streaming reports and publications to The Hague.

Also in relation to the organizations leading the campaign there is a European government funding industry.

In the last decade, European governments have transferred tens of millions of dollars to these organizations.

The NGO Monitor Institute recently issued a report that examines in depth the definition of the term apartheid, according to international law. The analysis shows that the definition used by organizations such as Amnesty, HRW, B'Tselem and others - has no

legal basis,

Hiding behind legal terms and quoting international conventions, Amnesty's campaign prevents hatred of the idea of a Jewish state and of the right of the Jewish people to self-determination.The international community must clearly condemn this antisemitic attack and condemn those who lead and fund it.
