Members of the Knesset usually like to talk and publish their bills, but a bill has recently been tabled in the Knesset presidency, which, despite the fact that no less than 10 MKs have signed it, seems to be ashamed to publish it these days.
This is a bill that seeks to further reduce the use of bags used in food and retail chains, and to charge the consumer an additional fee for them.

As you may recall, in 2017 the Bags Law came into force, following which the plastic bags in the food chains were sold for 10 agorot to the consumer, instead of being distributed free of charge. The law caused a public uproar, but also reduced the use of the amount of bags. Members of the Knesset are now seeking to expand the bill so that billing on plastic bags will apply to all stores in the economy (toys, clothing, etc.), and not just to food chains. The MKs also want to expand the law and demand payment for thicker bags, which have not been included in the law to date and have chains that use them. In addition, the MKs want to expand the collection to thin bags that have direct contact with food, which are currently distributed free And the fish.
The new bill is signed by MKs Michal Rosin, Musi Raz, Idit Silman, Eitan Ginzburg, Gabi Lasky, Naama Lazimi, Yurai Lahav Herzno, Emily Chaya Moati, Gilad Karib and Inbar Bezeq.
The explanatory memorandum to the bill states that "the consumption of the bags, which cause great damage to the environment, must be further reduced. It is therefore proposed to oblige all retail dealers to collect payment for these bags."
It was also written that the goal is to "influence consumer behavior."
MK Ophir Katz (Likud) came out strongly against the bill: "This is such a detached coalition.
It not only stabs the knife, but also rotates.
At a time when every citizen is feeling the rise in prices, at a time when the cost of living is skyrocketing because of their tax increases, that people are struggling with no financial assistance from the government - they are bringing such a bill.
shame on you.
You are devoid of any humanity and compassion for the citizens you were sent to serve. "
