Lebanese President, General Michel Aoun, reiterated his keenness to hold the parliamentary elections in the country on schedule.
A statement issued by the Information Office of the Presidency of the Lebanese Republic said today: "To prevent any confusion, President Aoun is committed to holding the parliamentary elections on the scheduled date on the 15th of next May."
The statement added: "With regard to overcoming the financial difficulties facing providing the funds necessary to conduct these elections, the Council of Ministers will study the request of the Ministry of Interior in this regard to take the necessary measures and the required funds for this in its session scheduled for next Tuesday in Baabda Palace."
The Lebanese Ministry of Interior had set May 15, 2022, as the date for holding parliamentary elections, and on the sixth or eighth of the same month, for Lebanese expatriates to cast their votes, according to the country in which they reside.
