Jerusalem Municipality is currently inaugurating the new "Beit Ha'am" complex, which will serve as one of the largest and most important cultural centers in the capital.

An extensive renovation of the "People's House" in the city is currently being completed, and it will open at the end of the month.

As part of the move, the Jerusalem Municipality, through the Eden Company, renovated the place, and it will serve as a hall of culture and arts that unites the human and cultural diversity in the city.

"Beit Ha'am" will serve as a stage for original local work, for performing arts productions, for conferences on social issues, for a variety of theater, dance, music and entertainment performances, as well as for festivals, conferences, lectures and exhibitions.

Thanks to the central location of Beit Ha'am in the heart of Jerusalem, the Jerusalem Arts Campus will be established next to it, which will house four art schools: Sam Spiegel, Nissan Nativ, the School of Visual Theater and the Center for Oriental Music.

This will make the place a unique complex, which includes the leading cultural and artistic institutions in the city.

As part of the move, the Jerusalem Municipality - after a 40-year absence - restored the historic sign of the building in order to detail the capillaries of nostalgia and strengthen the values of the place.

The restoration of the sign is part of a comprehensive renovation of the entire building, which is being revamped as part of the revolution that the cultural industry in the capital is going through.

The House of the People is known as a building for preservation due to its connection to the Eichmann trial, which was held there in 1961. As part of the renovation, a commemorative space for the Eichmann trial was established, where selected excerpts from the trial will be displayed on five screens.

In addition, the picture will show a picture of Gideon Hausner, the prosecutor in historical law and who was the attorney general.

On a plaque placed there is an excerpt from Hausner's famous opening speech at the Eichmann trial: "Where I stand before you, Judges of Israel, to teach a category about Adolf Eichmann, I do not stand alone. There are six million categories standing here at the moment. On their feet, send a convincing finger to the glass cell and shout to the one sitting there: 'I blame', because their ashes are piled up between the hills of Auschwitz and the fields of Treblinka, and their graves are scattered across Europe. Their blood cries out, but their voice will not be heard. "Here they are, and I will say the terrible indictment on their behalf."

The mayor of Jerusalem, Moshe Leon, said that "Jerusalem is the cultural capital of Israel. The renovation of the Beit Ha'am complex is another step, which continues the city's tremendous momentum in the field of culture."

Leon added that the new complex, "alongside the arts campus and the young students who will study there, will become the beating heart of the city center."
