Russian soldiers captured the Chernobyl power plant.
This is reported by the Internet platform Bellingcat and the Reuters news agency, citing a Ukrainian government spokesman.
Accordingly, it is currently unclear whether the protective buildings for the nuclear waste are intact.
The Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which was damaged in 1986, is located almost 70 kilometers north of the Ukrainian capital Kiev - and only about ten kilometers from the border with Belarus.
Russia has troops stationed there.
