The Russian Defense Ministry announced the organization of a joint Russian-Ukrainian guard for the Chernobyl nuclear plant in northern Ukraine, after Russian forces took control of it and the surrounding areas.
The ministry published scenes from the station showing Russian soldiers securing and protecting it and carrying out searches for mines or any threat that might threaten the safety of the station in conjunction with soldiers from the Ukrainian National Guard.
"It was agreed with the soldiers of the Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant Protection Battalion on the joint security of the power units, and the plant's employees continue their activities by serving the facilities in the normal mode and monitoring the radiological situation," the ministry said in a statement, noting that the defense measures of the nuclear plant ensure that neither terrorists nor nationalists orchestrated nuclear provocations. .
