"Stop Putin": Huge Protests Around the World | Israel today

While countries around the world are refraining from military intervention in Ukraine, major cities around the world demonstrated over the weekend against the Russian offensive.

In Tel Aviv last night, thousands demonstrated in support of Ukraine, calling on the world and the Israeli government to intervene and "stop the war."

The protesters marched to the point opposite the Russian embassy, ​​where they were stopped and shouted: "Respect for Ukraine" and "Say no to Putin".

Ina Bikhovsky, whose son and cousin got stuck near Kharkiv, told Israel Today: "The world must stop Putin the killer. These are the darkest and most difficult days since World War II, and if it is not stopped - it will be a tragedy for generations." 

Meanwhile, the "Putin" pub on Jaffa Street in Jerusalem removed the Russian president's name from the entrance sign as a sign of solidarity with Ukraine.

In front of the UN headquarters in Geneva, demonstrators also demanded that Ukraine join the NATO alliance.

"I am here because I am ashamed of my country," said one of the protesters in Geneva, a Russian by origin.

Another protester, in Berlin, said: "We have been trying to build peace in Europe for 70 years, and we must say no to Putin's madness."

Hundreds of protesters also gathered in front of the White House.

In Sydney, hundreds marched in torrential rain, chanting, "Ukraine will win."

In Tokyo, protesters sought to cancel Russia's membership in the Security Council.

In Georgia, which felt at ease in Putin's arm in 2008 when it invaded to aid separatist enclaves, thousands took to the streets of the capital Tbilisi in front of parliament, demanding the prime minister's resignation, following his announcement not to join sanctions against Russia.

Demonstrations were also held in Turkey, which is considered close to the Russian president.

In Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Peru, protesters shouted "Long live Ukraine."

Demonstrations took place even in Russia, and according to CNN, at least 2,700 people were arrested in demonstrations in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
