The Russian embassy in the Polish capital, Warsaw, was attacked and vandalized, while its embassy in the British capital, London, received threats.
The official representative of the Russian diplomatic mission in Warsaw, Vladimir Alexandrov, stated that the embassy building was attacked and some of its windows were smashed with metal balls fired from a slingshot, adding that the embassy constantly receives threats via telephone, e-mail and regular mail.
For its part, the Russian Embassy in London received threats by phone and attempts to disrupt the work of its phones and e-mail.
The Russian diplomatic mission in London indicated that demonstrations were organized by a number of protesters near the consular section of the embassy.
In this context, the International Biathlon Federation announced in an official statement today that the athletes of Russia and Belarus were prevented from participating in its championships under the banner of the two countries, and the anthems of the two countries were prevented and their flags raised during the upcoming competitions.
The International Federation also required the athletes of Russia and Belarus participating in its championships not to display any of their countries' symbols and national emblems on their clothes during the competitions.
Yesterday, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe decided to suspend Russia's membership in the Council against the backdrop of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, while the Russian Foreign Ministry described this decision as politicized, indicating that the aforementioned organization loses its European identity.
