This may happen for the best: A wallet pickpocket managed to steal the wallet of former German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday, even though Merkel is accompanied everywhere by a close personal security guard who is supposed to protect her.
The theft occurred while Merkel was shopping for her home at a supermarket in central Berlin.
According to a newspaper report in the German boy, the theft was made possible because Merkel's wallet hung close to her shopping cart and could have been easily snatched away.

According to the version given by a police source to the boy, the thief managed to take the wallet and run, even though Merkel is walking around accompanied by a personal bodyguard.
The former chancellor did not call police from the store, but preferred to go to the local police station that was near the shopping center, where she complained about the incident.
Merkel is known for leading a modest lifestyle: despite her status she prefers to do her own shopping.
In the past, German magazines used to keep track of Merkel's personal taste and report on the products she used to buy for her and her husband's sabbatical days.
During the corona, magazines knew how to report that the chancellor also bought bottles of wine, while rummaging through her shopping cart.
Now it turns out that the reference is not always helpful: even if you were the leader of one of the most powerful countries in the world, a pickpocket may steal your wallet at the supermarket.
