About 2,000 immigrant students are expected to be admitted to the education system • In the program: Studios for learning Hebrew and psychological guidance

The Ministry of Education is preparing to absorb 2,000 students from Ukraine who are expected to immigrate to Israel in the coming days, and flights from Poland and Moldova, including children, arrived in Israel yesterday.

Teams from the Ministry of Education, under the guidance of Education Minister Yifat Shasha Bitton, formulate a work plan, which will accompany the students and their parents from the moment they arrive in Israel until their integration into the educational institutions and community.

The Ministry of Education's program will include an educational, emotional, social and therapeutic envelope.

The escort will be done in two stages: the first stage, in hotels and hostels where the immigrants will be housed.

During this time the immigrants will have social activities such as organized trips to heritage sites around the country.

In addition, an emotional response will be provided by Ukrainian-speaking therapists and counselors.

The second stage, towards the transition to permanent residence.

Accompaniment during this time will include the placement of students in schools, the opening of dedicated studio classes within the schools and the integration of educational mediators, who will assist students and parents.

It should be noted that the ministry intends to open studio classes for about 3,000 immigrants aged 18 and over.

Einav Lok, director of the SFI (Counseling Psychological Service) division at the Ministry of Education, says: "We are locating a professional, language-speaking staff that will provide a solution for children and parents.

We estimate that the children who arrive will feel panic and distress due to the situation, some of whom have lost most of what they have. "She said," Immigration is considered a complex life event, which requires many coping resources.

Therefore, in the first stage, they must be wrapped, given warmth alongside routine and agenda. "

The Israeli public is mobilized

Meanwhile, about 90 children from the "unknown" orphanage from the city of Zhytomyr in Ukraine woke up this morning for their first day in Israel, after landing yesterday and arriving at the Ness Harim field center of the Jewish National Fund.

They are expected to stay in the center for the near future until the situation is clarified - until the return of some of the children to Ukraine or the adoption of the children in the country, a process that, if it happens, will take a long time.

Prior to their arrival, donations of food, toys, sweets and other equipment from the public were received at the center.

The Ministry of Welfare recruited 25 Russian-speaking social workers to accompany the children.

The social workers will interview them today for an initial introductory interview in order to tailor the appropriate response for them.

As mentioned, there are dozens of children, the youngest of whom is two years old, two of them with special needs, and only a quarter of them speak Hebrew.

It should be noted that although the children come from the so-called "orphanage", in practice not all are without parents (some came there because their parents have difficulty caring for them, N.D.) for this reason these are children who can not be adopted without their parents' consent In Ukraine.
