District

‒ Shortly before 7 p.m. on Sunday evening, around 50 refugees from Ukraine arrived in Miesbach.

The district is basically prepared.

In a tent at the former tax office in Miesbach, they are first tested and registered for Corona.

Then they receive food and hygiene packages, explains Sophie Stadler, spokeswoman for the district office.

The first refugees were to be distributed directly to two facilities in the Tegernsee valley on Sunday evening, one of which was the former sanatorium in Wildbad Kreuth.

The next few days will show whether they stay there.

"We have to distribute them according to family constellations," says Stadler.

Around 60 accommodations have been offered to the district so far, including an empty hotel in Bad Wiessee.

But it is foreseeable that “we need more”.

In a press release sent out by the district office in the evening, District Administrator Olaf von Löwis once again appealed to the citizens of the district: “We are prepared in our district.

But we need the support of the district citizens.

Please report any offers of support so we can quickly access them if needed.”

Vocational school gymnasium serves as an initial reception facility for the district

The vocational school gymnasium in Miesbach only serves as an interim solution, more or less as an initial reception facility for the district.

On Sunday it was initially equipped with 50 camp beds.

One wants to be prepared for a larger rush and have the opportunity to accommodate people temporarily, according to Stadler.

The district's crisis team will meet again on Monday and discuss how to proceed.

Citizens can report accommodation and offer help at www.landkreis-miesbach.de/ukrainehilfe.
