To date, 115 refugees from Ukraine have arrived in the district.

The district office received almost as many offers for accommodation.

But the search goes on.

District

– First come to rest and then see how things continue: Many of the refugees from Ukraine who arrived in the district late on Sunday evening expressed this wish, the district office said.

No wonder, after all, they have had a grueling journey with the constant fear of Russian missile attacks on their necks.

115 war refugees from Ukraine arrived in the Miesbach district by Monday, reports district office spokeswoman Sophie Stadler.

Since many of them stayed privately with friends or acquaintances without officially registering, the actual number is likely to be even higher.

And not all of those who have arrived are Ukrainians, explains Stadler.

The group of 54 on Sunday evening (we reported) also included 35 people from other countries.

For example, students, Afghan local workers or other refugees who had actually sought protection in Ukraine.

Among the 19 Ukrainian citizens were seven children between the ages of four and twelve.

Some refugees from the Ukraine are only passing through

How long the refugees actually stay in the district is unclear.

Some have already announced that they are only passing through to visit relatives or acquaintances in other parts of Europe, reports Stadler.

Others wanted to make up their own minds about their whereabouts after a few days of rest.

In order to make this as easy as possible for them, the district office, together with the BRK district association in Miesbach, provided them with food and hygiene packages and then brought them to two accommodations in the Tegernsee valley (30 to Wildbad Kreuth, 24 to accommodation rented by the district office in Oberhof).

In order to continue to be able to take in people at short notice, the district office has set up an “initial contact point” in the gym of the vocational school in Miesbach, explains Stadler.

Volunteers from the THW local branch in Miesbach and the fire brigades in Miesbach, Holzkirchen and Otterfing set up 50 camp beds.

Like the two above-mentioned accommodations in the Tegernsee valley, the gymnasium is intended to offer the Ukrainians an initial place of refuge before they are placed in other accommodations – if desired and if necessary.

The district office is still asking the public for help.

However, the focus here is on long-term available living space.

In order to spare the refugees further stress, the authority is initially only accepting offers with a possible useful life of at least eight weeks, says Stadler.

Almost 100 reports have already been received by the accommodation administration.

From private individuals, but also from a number of communities.

The spectrum ranges from empty children's rooms to entire apartments to gyms and hotels.

Accommodation for asylum seekers is only partially available

In principle, the already existing accommodation for asylum seekers in the district would also be available, Stadler said on request.

45 places could be created here, but 20 have already been occupied since Sunday evening.

These accommodations are not allowed to be used completely, she explains: "We have the requirement to keep capacities free for people who apply for asylum independently of the Ukraine crisis."
