A female force in Daliyat al-Carmel helps teenagers at night and works against street bullying • Volunteer: "I know how to deal with any situation on the ground"

Feminine power: For years, the Patrol has been working to strengthen personal security in Daliyat al-Carmel and assisting youth in the public sphere.

No wonder International Women's Day is most impressively celebrated by women in the Druze community.

The men also join in marking the day, proudly recounting the female power acting on behalf of the Ministry of Homeland Security's Community Security Authority.

The Women's Patrol, led by Tagrid Abu Hamoud, creates a safe space at night for teenagers, and especially for girls, while providing a high sense of personal security, which includes discourse, guidance, counseling and help at all levels of life.

The women go out into the field every Friday from 22:00 until the wee hours of the night.

During the nights they deal with anti-social behavior in the public space, street bullying, wild driving, drunkenness, wandering teenagers and other cases.

In the past, the authorities and Daliyat al-Carmel have tried to find various solutions to eradicate these phenomena, which have been of little use.

The Ministry of Internal Security says that the intensive activity of the women's patrol, the investment, the dialogue with the youth, giving a sympathetic ear and a deep acquaintance with the needs of the children and youth, led to success, revolution and significant milestone.

Already today, there is a trend of improvement in the situation on the ground and in the sense of security of the residents and the youth in Daliyat al-Carmel.

Beyond that, in the meetings of the group you can see all parts of society: women dressed in traditional clothes and headdresses, single mothers and mothers of young and old children.

"I started my work during the fire that broke out in Daliyat al-Carmel," says Hakam Araida, a single mother of four.

Araida has been volunteering in the patrol for 20 years.

"I helped with the fire, and then I realized my girlfriend's need for women like me to volunteer," she adds.

"I volunteered because I wanted to change reality even then. I as a woman know how to deal with any situation that arises from the field, it is for me my strength as a woman.

Success harvesters

"I call on women: there is nothing that stands in the way of desire. A woman with desire can advance in any field. We must put aside the feeling of discrimination - and contribute to the community everywhere."

Issam Nasrladin, director of the Community Security Authority in Daliyat al-Carmel, says that "one of the strongest cornerstones of Druze society is respect for women. ".
