The lives of the Karaush family changed instantly on Saturday, February 26 at 8:30 a.m., when a missile hit their home in Kiev.

Three of the four family members were injured from the direct hit.

In cooperation with MDA, ZKA and the "Rescue Air" organization, the family members were flown to Israel for medical treatment.



Max and Irina, 44, and their children Mark and Georgi, 19 and 10, were evacuated to a local hospital in Kiev after the injury.

Nachman Dickstein, a volunteer at Magen David Adom and the ZKA and living in Kiev, Ukraine, heard about the story and contacted MDA in Israel to help bring the wounded to medical care in Israel, at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem.



The organizations called a private plane that took off from New York to the Romanian-Moldova border, and from there to Ben Gurion Airport. The plane also sent seven tons of food and humanitarian and medical equipment donated by the Air Rescue organization and reached refugees on the Moldova-Ukrainian border.

This morning (Monday), the plane landed at Ben Gurion Airport, where MDA intensive care vehicles were waiting for the family members and evacuated them to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem.



The mother was moderately injured, suffering from an open crisis in her leg and will need surgery.

Mark, 19, was also moderately injured, injured his leg and suffering from an open and back vertebral crisis, and will also need surgery later.

The father, 44, is in a light condition with a knee injury.

The youngest son does not need medical attention.

The acting director general of Hadassah Medical Center, Prof. Yoram Weiss, said that "the three wounded have come to Hadassah specialists who are treating them now - and they are in the best hands there is."
