Parallel to the war, negotiations continue between Russians and Ukrainians.
And for the first time they made progress on Wednesday, with the highlighting of a possible neutrality of Ukraine.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov spoke of a status for Ukraine that would resemble that of Austria or Sweden, two countries that are not members of NATO.

As for the head of Russian diplomacy Sergei Lavrov, he spoke of an agreement “
with very specific terms
”.
Within days, both countries made concessions.
Russia no longer speaks of the “
denazification
” of Ukraine or of regime change in Kiev.
Ukraine, through the voice of its president, has agreed to give up joining NATO, a requirement put forward from the start by Moscow.
Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged that the positions of both sides were now "
more realistic
".
