Prime Minister Naftali Bennett congratulated the Iranian people in honor of the Nuruz - Persian New Year - which took place today (Sunday).

"I have a special message for the Iranian people on the occasion of the Feast of Nuruz: Blessed are you, your families, and all those who celebrate this beautiful holiday around the world," he said in a video he posted.

"I wish you a happy new year, a year of health, prosperity and peace. The word 'neuros' means a new day. This is my greatest wish for you, the Iranian people: that you get to see a new day - a day of freedom from the cruel Iranian regime.

"There are so many things in common for the Iranian and Israeli people. We are vigorous peoples with ancient histories and rich cultures striving for a brighter future," he added.

"Together, we also face a common threat: the cruel and oppressive Iranian regime, whether it is the Islamic Revolutionary Guards - the world's largest terrorist organization - its affiliates, or the Basij. We know that the Iranian regime does not represent you and that they continue to deprive you of the freedom you deserve. We hope you will get rid of this cruel and ruthless regime, and you will have real freedom, "he said.
