Baden-Württemberg's Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) has called on the federal government to better coordinate the distribution of Ukrainian war refugees.
"The federal government has to better organize the distribution and the registration," said Kretschmann on Monday evening on SWR television.
If volunteer helpers had to wait in vain for refugees because of poor planning, it was "unfortunate".
Stuttgart - Kretschmann added: "The distribution just doesn't work properly yet."
Baden-Württemberg itself is "well prepared" for the people.
Nationwide, the capacity to take in refugees is currently being expanded in order to do justice to the large number of people fleeing the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine.

State Minister of Justice Marion Gentges (CDU) had previously criticized the federal government.
“The federal government has announced that it intends to take over the distribution of refugees.
To be honest, nothing has been said about it so far," Gentges said on Monday.
In the past few days, there has been a big gap between planning and reality.
