200 chefs and a hundred international journalists are expected this Tuesday, March 22, at the L'Avant-Scène theater in Cognac (Charente), for the 2022 Michelin star ceremony.
Presented, as in 2021, by Sophie Menut Yovanovitch, alongside Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guides, it should start at 4.30 p.m. and end around 6.30 p.m.
The event, which takes place for the first time in the provinces, is also scheduled two months later than usual, in order to take into account the slow restart of the post-Covid tables.
All the hotels in Cognac are reserved, that is to say about 600 beds, reports our special correspondent on the spot, who notes an enormous enthusiasm from the staff, proud to receive the Michelin Guide.
Many chefs have already arrived since yesterday, and some will also stay tomorrow.
Wednesday is market day in Cognac: the producers make a huge effort to put only good things on display!
Last year, the winners, presented without an audience from the Eiffel Tower, only saw the crowning of a three-star restaurant, AM by Alexandre Mazzia, out of 57 new award-winning tables (out of a total of 638 listed in the Guide).
No 3-stars had also been sanctioned.
