With the double promotion of La Villa Madie (Cassis) and Plénitude at Cheval Blanc (Paris 1er) - against only one, AM in Marseille, last year - and a single cancellation due to closure (Alain Ducasse at the Plaza Athénée - his successor Jean Imbert wins a macaroon), the happy holders of the supreme distinction win a colleague.

They were only 2 neopromotes with two macaroons last year (Marsan in Paris and La Merise in Laubach), they go back to 6 in 2022: Lalique (Bommes), Duende by Pierre Gagnaire (Nîmes), Palais Royal Restaurant (Paris 1st), Table by Bruno Verjus (Paris 12th), L'Oiseau Blanc by David Bizet at the Peninsula (Paris 16th) and Blue Bay by Marcel Ravin (Monaco).

In total, the guide has 74 (as in 2021).

41 new 1-stars

The 2022 vintage has 522 one-star restaurants, 12 less than in 2021, including 41 newcomers (compared to 54 promoted last year).
