The mobilization in defense of the Mayan Train has brought out of silence even the son of the president of Mexico, José Ramón López Beltrán, involved weeks ago in a controversy related to his Florida mansion.

The eldest son of Andrés Manuel López Obrador publicly supported his father by criticizing the group of actors and singers who mobilized against the Mayan Train and who demand a change in section five that goes from Cancun to Tulum, so that it does not cross the network of caves and cenotes that runs through the region.

The former president's son published a message on his social networks criticizing that "the best moments" of comedian Eugenio Derbéz and Rubén Albarrán, vocalist of Café Tacvba, two of the artists leading the campaign, were in the 90s and advised them not to pay attention to their "fatuous" and "superfluous bad friends".

López Obrador's son has been the last to join the wave of attacks received by musicians and artists after his positioning.

The group of celebrities, who are part of the 'sélvame del Tren' campaign, among which are also Kate del Castillo or Natalia Lafourcade, responded to the president that they are not a group paid by anyone.

“No one hired us, no one paid us, there is no political banner within this movement,” they said after the president called them “pseudo-environmentalists” supported by the opposition and “used” by businessmen like Claudio X. González.

“Who knows who made the texts, who financed them, it is not that they have been paid, although there is also that possibility (…) but that production did cost and someone is behind it, someone like Claudio X. González,

the same ones who feel affected by the Riviera Maya who have destroyed the environment and others who are against us,” he said this week.

"There is no destruction of the jungle, it is a gap, at most, 50 kilometers from the 1,500 (which has the complete route of the train) and it is not a high jungle mountain, it is an acahual, which is different," he defended.

The criticism received for the environmental damage caused by the train that will travel through the Yucatan peninsula and which is one of the projects that requires the most investment, time and travel from the president, also mobilized other prominent figures of the so-called

For the Head of Government of Mexico City, the artists who oppose the construction of section 5 of the Mayan Train "are misinformed" and she recommended "not to be manipulated."
