The deputy parish priest of Châtillon, in the Aosta Valley, accidentally drank Viakal during last Sunday's mass.
Don Alessandro Valerioti, 33 years old and originally from La Salle, is now well and will soon return to perform his duties.
The accident occurred at the end of the mass, during the rite of purification: when mixing the wine with the water, he did not realize that anti-limescale was left in the cruet of the latter, probably used to clean it and not rinsed. .
The vicar immediately felt ill and threw up.
As the malaise persisted, in the afternoon, he went for a check by the village medical guard and then went to the Umberto Parini hospital in Aosta, where he was detained one night for the necessary examinations and investigations.
"
I was given a gastroscopy which revealed a small burn at the base of the intestine - he told ANSA - and then I took a few days off.
Tonight I will already be operational, I just have to do a month or so of therapy.
It seems like a joke, no one is to blame, these things happen ".
