The Association of Classic Car Friends was the first to feel the need to save again, which had been proclaimed in the district town.

The Miesbach finance committee only approved his application for a subsidy for the 3rd historic vehicle meeting, which is planned for Sunday, June 19, on Habererplatz, with reservations.

As reported, the classic car friends want to exhibit historic vehicles again as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Weißbierbrauerei Hopf with their chairman, the CSU city council and parliamentary group spokesman Erhard Pohl.

In order to be able to implement this project, the association has asked the city for a grant of 1000 euros.

The finance committee, which had just weathered the district town's debt shock in the previous item on the agenda, had to decide on this.

The discussion about the subsidy for the classic car meeting was accordingly cost-conscious.

Hard austerity course for Miesbach

"It is important to support clubs," said Markus Seemüller (FWG).

"But I don't see the city as having any obligation here." On the one hand, the classic car friends are not relevant to youth work, on the other hand, they already support the city with a room that could also be used for other storage purposes.

"I find that very friendly, since storage space is scarce in the city," stated Seemüller.

proof as a compromise

While Christian Mittermaier (CSU) countered that the club had repaired the dilapidated Schupf itself, Alfred Mittermaier (CSU) suggested only deciding on the subsidy after the event, when the accounts were available.

"A good suggestion," said Manfred Burger (Greens), who himself considered a maximum of 500 euros to be bearable.

Stefan Griesbeck (CSU), himself chairman of SV Miesbach, did not want to focus on youth work with classic car enthusiasts.

"We would subsidize it as a city regardless," he noted.

For him it is important "that few events have taken place recently".

Point of contention: before or after?

He also pointed out that the procedure of presenting a deficit to the city after an event in the expectation that it would take it over had also been criticized by the finance committee - namely at the Kulturherbst Open Air in September 2020. "We should therefore give a signal beforehand,” said Griesbeck.

He could definitely live with 1000 euros.

"indirect business promotion"

Economics officer Florian Beckmann (SPD) rated the amount as “indirect economic development”, which is why he hopes that visitors will also visit the local gastronomy.

"It's a downtown revitalization that I would welcome."

The finance committee then decided against the votes of Burger, Seemüller and Michael Lechner (FWG) to take on a deficit of up to 1000 euros for classic car enthusiasts.

The necessity must be proven with a statement.
