Presidential live: follow with us the results of the first round and the election night

The essential

  • This Sunday, from 8 p.m., you will discover here the first estimates of the results.

    At the end of this first round, two candidates will qualify.

  • At 5 p.m., the turnout was 65%, compared to 69.42% in 2017. At noon, the figure was 25.48%, again down from the previous presidential election.

  • According to Ipsos-Sopra Steria estimates for Le Parisien, France Télévisions and Radio France, total abstention should be around 26.5% on the evening of this first round.

  • From 8 p.m., the candidates are no longer bound to electoral silence.

The candidate of France Insoumise has also arrived at the Cirque d'hiver, in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, where he will spend the evening with his supporters.

The candidates will all spend the evening in Paris

If they voted in the four corners of France (from Hauts-de-France to Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, via New Aquitaine and Ile-de-France) the 12 candidates will all be Paris for the results this Sunday evening.

Increase in participation in Guadeloupe and Martinique

In Guadeloupe, the turnout stood at 37.08% at 5 p.m., compared to 34.17% in 2017. This rate was also up slightly in Martinique with 35.1% (34.82% in 2017).

On the other hand, in French Polynesia, only 23.78% of voters had moved against 43.97% in 2017.

Speeches to be expected from 8 p.m.

The candidates, who had been kept in electoral silence since midnight Friday, will no longer be compelled to do so from this Sunday at 8 p.m.

They will therefore be able to express themselves on the results and give, if they wish, voting instructions for the second round.

Abstention higher than in 2017

According to Ipsos-Sopra Steria estimates for Le Parisien, France Télévisions and Radio France, total abstention should be around 26.5% on the evening of this first round.

This is more than in 2017: at the time, this figure was 22.23%.

In 2012, abstention was even lower, at 20.52%.
