Opinion | There are alternatives to the "peace" fantasy | Israel today

2022-04-11T20:40:33.690Z

We will not go and pick strawberries in Ramallah, nor will we sunbathe on the shores of Gaza, but the economy will flourish, the average Israeli will live well • We will stay, and the world will look at us with envy

The latest wave of terrorist attacks is reminiscent of oblivion.

The smell of Oslo in the air, quiet songs on the radio, a special transmitter.

The faces of Israeli boys and girls, as beautiful as only the devil knows how to paint, with a shy smile on the front page of the newspaper.

Negotiations with the Palestinians seem to have begun today.

As lost hikers in the jungle we grope our way through the bushes and snakes, and once a decade return to a familiar clearing, the one from which we started walking.

Maybe it's worth stopping and thinking "why" before the next bloody round.

A distorted notion has been established in our minds about the meaning of the word "peace," a false meaning taken from the wondrous world of Walt Disney.

It is a toxic and dangerous fantasy, the pursuit of which is irrational and insane, and it kills us girl after girl, Jew after Jew.

As we delve into our enjoyment, reality comes and almost once offers us an alternative.

You should read it and start talking about another peace.

Used peace.

A sweaty and nervous Israeli peace, but one that can be trusted.

This peace can be called "enough to dream".

Here's what will not happen when the "enough to dream" breaks out here: We will not go picking strawberries in Ramallah.

Definately not.

Nor will we sunbathe on the shores of Gaza, and those lost on their way through the hills of Samaria will still be expected to die a strange death at the hands of Palestinian peace activists.

In the PA's schools, antisemitic poison will continue to be memorized, and when Jewish fathers stand torn in cemeteries, candies will be distributed in the streets of Gaza.

Islam has not changed in the last 1,400 years, it will not change in our honor, and there will be terrorist attacks.

In short, when you grow up, Benny Mohammadi, there will still be an army.

And more how it will be.

But there will be a second side to "Enough to Dream."

It's true that life is not a picnic, but sometimes it is.

We will live in security.

Not one hundred percent security because there is no such thing, but reasonable security.

The "security situation" will continue to be a threat to us, but it will not be more dangerous than the "situation on the roads."

There will be almost no place in the State of Israel where a Jewish girl will not be able to walk alone at night.

The economy will flourish.

The average Israeli will live well.

It may sound imaginary, but he will go on vacation in Dubai.

The Israeli shekel will be the strongest currency in the world.

The nations of the world will look at us with envy;

Suffering from economic crises and continuing to gallop forward.

Tunnels will be dug under the streets of Tel Aviv, and trains will travel through them.

World leaders will be at the door of the Israeli leadership.

They will come to learn, to buy, to marvel.

This is not even half of the blessing that the "enough to dream" will bring with it, but you can relax - we will stay.

We will drink granulated coffee in almond milk and complain bitterly about the price of the fresh pineapple.

If anyone feels deja vu for the last paragraph bible, he's right.

Reality not only offered us an alternative, it was the alternative.

Ten years we lived in the reality of "Enough to Dream", the ten good years that ended in June 2021.

Instead of a toxic and bloody fantasy about "peace" with an American accent and a hyssop-scented colon, we might just want to wake up.

That "peace" is beyond the horizon and will remain there forever, but the alternative can be accepted today.

"Enough to dream" now.

Were we wrong?

Fixed!
