Vladimir Putin is known as a very private man when it comes to his personal life and especially to the women in his life, but the economic sanctions the West imposes on Russia shed light on all the pregnant women, his daughters (official and secret) and his past and present mistresses. The Russian - so claim the New York Post.
As Western sanctions try to hurt the Russian economy, authorities have shifted from fighting Putin's oligarchs to his associates and family.
And for Putin - family is the women who starred in his life.
"We believe many of Putin's assets are hidden from family members, which is why we are targeting them," a senior U.S. administration official told the Washington Post last week. Attorney Thomas Firestone, an expert on economic sanctions, agrees "Increasing the pressure on Putin personally by causing embarrassment - because he tried so hard to keep his daughters out of the spotlight and also because there are reasons to believe they hold large parts of his wealth," Firston told the New York Post.
"I think it may also be designed to send him a message about the kind of intelligence that the US and NATO have about his personal life and that they are willing to use it."

so who are the women in Vladimir Putin's life?

This Russian flight attendant married Putin in 1983 and was officially the "first lady" of the country when Putin first became president in 2000. Although they had already led a separate life, they only officially broke up in 2013.
Their two daughters are now on the sanctions list: Maria Putina, the daughter 36, who uses the family name Vorontsova and is the co-owner of Nomenko, a health investment company, and Katrina Tikhonova, 35, a former competitive dancer who is currently in charge of a new Institute of Artificial Intelligence at Moscow University.
Maria lives in great splendor in the Netherlands, where she married Dutch businessman Jurit Fassen, who held a high-paying job related to Russia’s oil and gas sector.
But they were expelled from the Netherlands and forced to flee back to Russia in 2014 after the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 by a Russian missile that left 298 dead - including 193 Dutch citizens.
Katrina, meanwhile, married Kirill Shmalov in 2013 - then he became the youngest billionaire in Russia, as a director and part owner of Sibor, a Russian oil and petrochemical company.
They divorced in 2018.

Putin and Ludmila divorced in 2014 and since then she has remarried and moved to the south of France.

In 2003, Putin reportedly gave birth to a secret child with a housekeeper who became his mistress while working in one of his luxury complexes.
It currently has a $ 95 million business empire and owns a partnership with one of Russia's largest private banks, founded with Communist Party funds in the 1990s and an erotic nightclub.

After Putin invaded Ukraine, her Instagram page was filled with anti-war reactions by surfers who attacked her and called her father a war criminal - and she deleted all her social media pages and disappeared.

For several years now, Putin has been conducting (apparently) a relatively secretive affair with Olympic gold medalist Alina Kabayeva - and according to sources close to the Russian leader these days he is going out of his way to hide her and their four children in a safe place.
Kabayeva, now 38, won a bronze medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and gold in the same category at the 2004 Athens Games.
After retiring, Kabayeva began a political career and in 2007-2014 served as a similar Member of Parliament, the lower house of the Russian Parliament, on behalf of Putin's ruling party.
She said in 2014 when asked about her personal life: "Everyone should have their own little secrets", before adding: "I hope someday the gossipers will calm down." She has hardly been seen in public since rumors began about the relationship between her and the powerful man in Russia.
After being engaged to a police officer until 2005, all reports in recent years indicate that she is Putin's spouse - and that they gave birth to four children - two twin daughters and two sons, all born in Switzerland.

Kabayeva was apparently a Muslim and converted to Russian Orthodoxy for Putin, sources say.
She is known in Russia as Putin's "Eva Brown", and according to the New York Post's pagesix report, she is currently hiding in an alpine hut somewhere in the Swiss mountains with her four young children, including her 7-year-old twin daughters born in Lugano in southern Switzerland.
The post adds that Putin's four children with Kabayeva have Swiss passports and according to reports, her friends are urging her to use her influence on Putin to stop the war.

According to reports in Russia, Lupirba is Putin's lover, or at least has been in recent years.
Lupiriva, Miss Russia for 2003, got a comfortable and sought-after job as ambassador for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
She has flown regularly as Russia's representative to the world capitals, and even took part in the World Cup draw in Doha last week after becoming the official ambassador of the World Cup and at the same time running the Miss Russia pageant.

Sources in Moscow believe that Lupiriva would not have accepted this position if Putin had not personally instructed her to do so, and she has earned the nickname "Putin's favorite woman."
The popular TV presenter, who has almost two million followers on Instagram, does not hide her support for the president and has called for him to vote more than once.
Rumors about the affair between the two began after her appointment to official positions in 2018, although she is currently married to a Russian guy named Igor Bolarov and the two have a three-year-old son.
In the past she has also dated a number of footballers, and was even married to Russian footballer Fedor Smolov for two years from 2013 to 2015, who recently spoke out against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
