Police Spokeswoman (Jerusalem):
Tonight, around 4:00 AM, dozens of young lawbreakers, some of them masked, began a procession in the Temple Mount area, with Hamas and PA flags, which included firing several fireworks into the air and throwing stones.
The suspects began collecting stones, gathering piles of stones, planks and other objects with the intention of disturbing the order.
Even after the prayer, a violent disturbance began, which included throwing stones and objects and firing fireworks while violating public order.
Despite the stone-throwing, the police waited for the prayer to end and scatter the worshipers.
After the violators of the Order of Jesus threw stones at the Western Wall and the violent riot continued and intensified, police forces under the command of Jerusalem District Commander Doron Turgeman were forced to enter the mountain area, and act to disperse and repel the violent violators and allow other worshipers to leave safely.
While many police officers are working to allow freedom of worship while maintaining security, law and order in the holy places and throughout the city of Jerusalem, there are those who choose to riot and disturb public order.
We will continue to act resolutely against violators and outlaws for the sake of public peace and security.
