France will send more than 28 tonnes of emergency medical equipment to Ukraine, the Foreign and Health Ministries announced in a joint statement on Thursday.

This new French consignment by road, via Poland, includes an oxygen generator, more than 50 breathing apparatuses and their consumables, more than 4.5 tonnes of medicine "enabled to treat up to 500 seriously injured", as well as a high capacity generating set.

“These operations (…) testify to the solidarity of France, its hospitals, its local authorities and its businesses towards the Ukrainian people”, added the two ministries.

The French Blood Establishment has already offered two trucks in March for blood collection.

They are currently used in Ukraine.

These donations were partly "financed with contributions from local authorities and companies paid into the ministry's dedicated competition funds", specifies the press release.

On Thursday, US President Joe Biden announced an additional $800 million in military equipment.

The United States also intends to provide additional economic aid of $500 million to keep the Ukrainian government functioning.

Spain, for its part, reported sending 200 tons of military aid.

"It's the most important shipment made (by Madrid).

It more than doubles what we have sent so far,” Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez told a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday.
