For Prime Minister Bennett, and this is no secret, the formation of the government and the Shatnz coalition that is crumbling alongside it is - after deducting lip service - just an experiment.
"At best - this government will do great things for the State of Israel, at worst - we will not succeed. No disaster has happened here, the main thing is that we came out of the mud," Bennett said in the first interview after the decision was made to form a government.
As for how much "disaster did not happen here" and how much "we got out of the mud", one can see in the unflattering poll numbers and the sharp coalition crisis that threatens the government's survival less than a year after its formation, and the political tsunami that excited the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem this week.
But the laboratory is still active, the experiment on nine million people who are Israeli citizens is still at its peak, and the results are not impressive.
Bennett and Lapid have been involved in materials engineering, which is becoming more and more apparent from day to day. They do not respond well to each other.
The dream of "Vagra Meretz with Gideon Saar and Ra'am with Yemin Tarbatz" has become a mess, which can be seen mathematically as the parliamentary majority that revived it is fading.
Still, the political and national story told by the government is not just about counting fingers in the Knesset plenum.
Governments rise and fall, coalitions form and disintegrate.
The real experiment currently being conducted by Bennett, his party and his government is on the fundamental issues - and includes an attempt to completely change Israel's perception of security, its status as a Jewish state and its Zionist perception.
All this, in the name of trying to feed the government, and Bennett's ability to survive in office in a little oxygen.
Engineers New Israel
If Ben-Gurion wanted to produce a new Israeli - Bennett and Lapid engineers a new Israel, one of all its citizens, whose security was transferred to those who from the beginning saw a Jewish state as something that should pass from the world.
And tragically, this dangerous experiment may still succeed.
Since the advent of Zionism, and even more so since the establishment of the state, Israel's conception of security has been based on the assumption that the Jews have a duty to protect it and their Jewish brethren.
This, of course, with allies among the country's minorities, and the granting of equal civil rights to all.
This week it became clear that Bennett had formulated his own conception and given Ore control over our security to the RAAM, which distorted what was happening on the ground, accused Israel of false accusations, and generally refused to contain the sights of police protecting Jewish civilians.
Bennett's experiment, in which those who decide whether our borders will be quiet, whether Jews wearing prayer shawls will be beaten on the streets of Jerusalem and whether the government will survive a Jewish defense attempt against Islamic aggression, is dangerous and goes to the root of our existence in this country.
Instead of outdated Zionism, which does not allow for the tenure of a majority leader in the Knesset, the government is leading us to a place where Zionism is unnecessary.
In the same interview in which he explained that "the most - we will not succeed, no disaster has happened," Bennett clarified that the government will only deal with civil issues.
"There is not a single national word in the coalition agreements," he asserted.
This week it became clear how everything is national, everything is religious.
The prime minister's response was silence, ignoring the PM's national muscle demonstration, and in fact - the sacrifice of Zionism and its hold on Israel and Jerusalem in exchange for the survival of his government. I look forward to the decision of the a-Shura Council whether it will continue to exist or not.
It is, of course, the spirit of Lapid and Bennett's commander that handed over the decision on security issues to the Islamic Movement, giving it a monopoly on the Jews' response policy to attacks on their brethren in the capital.
The substances dripping in the test tubes of Bennett Laboratory are leading the country to all its citizens, and now the formula is clear to everyone.
The integrity of the coalition equals the omission of the Zionist ethos and the values on which the Jewish state was built.
The victims of unity
Zion is Jerusalem, but nothing terrible will happen if, at the time of the rotation, it becomes at least the city of al-Quds.
From a Hundred Years of Protective and Planting Zionism - there remains a government that withdrew from the Temple Mount, allowing displacement of plantations in the Negev, dreaming of a more universal land, whose heads carry more enlightened speeches, in high words and detached from the roots that built the tree they now threaten to cut down.
In the face of a movement that stands by its national principles and insists on them, Lapid and Bennett stand paralyzed.
They do not even have the courage to mention our right to the land.
If the victims of peace were sacrificed on the altar of the Oslo Accords, the victims of unity were sacrificed on the altar of the government of change.
Tragically, in the new world that Lapid and Bennett are building there is nothing sacred except the survival of the government.
There is no red line other than the line where enough fingers will be raised to disperse the Knesset.
The price of the attempt to make Israel a state of all its citizens will be paid, paradoxically, by all its citizens.
