Sardinia will host "50 years of Bella Ciao" at the Teatro Massimo in Cagliari on Sunday 24 April at 9 pm, right on the eve of the Liberation Day.

An original and engaging reinterpretation that, after more than half a century, brings to life the atmosphere of the legendary and unforgettable event on the bill at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto in the mid-60s.

A national preview that opens the S'Ard Festival 2022, a showcase of the most interesting popular and folk music productions, promoted by

cultural association S'ardmusic.

Bella Ciao, although it is probably attributable in embryonic form to some pre-existing popular songs, became a hymn of the Resistance only twenty years after the end of the war.

The song is not actually present in any document prior to the 1950s and its popular consecration took place only between '63 and '64, with the version of Yves Montand and the Spoleto festival, which presented it as a song. of mondine and as a partisan anthem.

In the meantime, the video of the new version of the song "Bella Ciao", full of Mediterranean echoes, is scheduled to be released on April 25th.

The voices of Elena Ledda, Lucilla Galeazzi, Gabriella Aiello and Peppe Voltarelli interact with Francesco Loccisano's battente guitar, Andrea Piccioni's percussion, Mauro Durante's violin and Mauro Palmas' mandoloncello.

The song, embellished by the contributions of Moni Ovadia and Mario Incudine, is included in the album "A sud di Bella Ciao-Songs of love and revolt of southern Italy", released last November.

The fascination of popular music is intertwined with the new avant-gardes of folk in the highly anticipated concert at the Teatro Massimo, coordinated by Franco Fabbri, one of the pioneers of Popular music studies.
