Between "friendly decontamination" against Lepenist arguments and "loyalty to the left", these villages voted overwhelmingly for Emm

In the first round of the presidential election, 27 municipalities gave no vote to Marine Le Pen.

In the second round, no offense to those of Emmanuel Macron's supporters who congratulate themselves on the undeniable success of their winner, only three: Le Clat, in Aude, as well as Baren and Caubous in Haute-Garonne.

In Baren, very close to the Spanish border, INSEE identified 12 inhabitants in 2019.

Less than ten live there year-round.

Sunday evening, Emmanuel Macron collected 6 votes out of the eight cast.

The other two were blank ballots.

There were also four abstainers.

No vote for Le Pen.

“We are a small mountain village perched at the bottom of a lost valley, we are a thousand miles from what Zemmour or Le Pen can say about racism or insecurity.

We live in peace, we will never be rich, but we have a quality of life, ”says the mayor, Didier Larbit.

The proximity to nature explains the results of the first round, "Jean Lassalle two votes, two for Macron and one for Jadot", he lists.

“We also have two young people aged 18 and 20 who were voting for the president for the first time”, notes the mayor, a guide by profession.

For this abstentionist resident of the 2nd round, the absence of a vote for Marine Le Pen is due to “a friendly decontamination that we have put in place for years”.

Because before, the FN made “five votes on average”, in particular because a couple from Marseilles voted for the party with the flame.

The couple still have ties to Baren but vote again in Marseille, which has caused the statistics at the polls to plummet.

For the others, "we talked about tolerance" with them, highlighting the gap "between the regional representatives of this party, who are very rude, and the family that manages its business" from the Paris region.

“We are in a system that has served us Le Pen soup since Mitterrand, and things are not progressing,” he laments.

8 km from Baren but half an hour by car as the roads twist, Caubous is a 3-3 match, 3 for Macron, 3 for the whites, and one abstention.

The village had 5 inhabitants at the 2019 Insee census, so a family came to settle there, not for the year, and Estelle and Adrien, the couple who had settled there to practice mountain agriculture, left. .

"There aren't many people left on site, only second homes...", blows the mayor, José Gouzy.

It is therefore very difficult to reach residents to get their reaction.

At Clat, in the south-west of the Aude department, of the 26 voters who turned out, one voted white and the other 25 for the president.

“We have always voted on the left in Le Clat, Le Pen has never had a single voice,” boasts this resident.

In the first round, the PS mayor of Paris obtained 42.3% of the vote, a score 24 times greater than her national result.

Sunday, the inhabitants of Clat therefore voted "against Le Pen, very clearly", he continues, because "we are quite simply a village which has kept its convictions".
