The British authorities today acknowledged the killing of one of its citizens and the loss of another while fighting as mercenaries on the side of Ukrainian forces.
"We can confirm that a British citizen was killed in Ukraine, as well as confirm that another British citizen was missing in the fighting there," a British Foreign Office spokesman said in a statement.
The Sky News channel indicated that the British mercenaries participated in the hostilities alongside the forces loyal to the Kyiv government, revealing that the dead man called Scott Sibley, a former military.
The Russian Ministry of Defense revealed earlier this month that the Kyiv government had recruited about 7,000 mercenaries from 63 countries, pointing out that the Russian forces during their military operation in the territory of this country were able to liquidate more than a thousand of them.
