The State Department announced Wednesday that Secretary of State Antony Blinken had tested positive for the coronavirus after he attended the White House correspondents' dinner over the weekend and his Tuesday meeting with Mexico's foreign minister.
State Department spokesman Ned Price said Blinken tested positive for an OPCR test on Wednesday afternoon.
He added that he is fully vaccinated and has only moderate symptoms.

Mexican Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard said he had taken a coronavirus PCR test after he met with Blinken on Tuesday to discuss migration and bilateral relations.
Blinken had tested negative on Tuesday and also on Wednesday morning.
The Secretary of State has not met in person with President Joe Biden in recent days.
He also met this Wednesday morning with the Swedish Foreign Minister.
On Thursday he had scheduled a conference on US foreign policy towards China, but it was postponed.

Price said Blinken would stay in isolation and work remotely from home.

He is the latest White House official to test positive for COVID-19 in the latest wave of infections in Washington.
The vice president, Kamala Harris, was infected last week.
On Tuesday she got the go-ahead from doctors to resume work.
