A dead baby has been found in a shelter for Ukrainian refugees in Cologne.
Cleaning staff discovered the infant in a toilet stall.
Cologne – Terrible find in Cologne: A dead baby was found in a shelter for refugees from Ukraine on Monday.
This is accommodation for Ukrainian refugees on the grounds of the Cologne trade fair, as reported by 24RHEIN.
The police announced this on Monday evening (9 May).

► Around 1,100 people can be accommodated in the refugee accommodation in the exhibition hall.
If this is not enough, another 400 people can be accommodated in another exhibition hall.
►The operation of the emergency accommodation is ensured jointly by the city with the German Red Cross, the Caritas association of the city of Cologne and the Cologne Diakonie
► The emergency shelter has been open since March 2021 and will run until June 15th.
After that, there should be accommodation for Ukraine refugees in the tent city at the south stadium instead.
There will then be events again in the exhibition hall.
► A living area has room for four people.
The area is around 25 square meters and is furnished with camp beds, a table, chairs and a lockable cupboard.
Dead baby in refugee accommodation in Cologne: murder commission determined
Cleaning staff discovered the dead boy on Monday morning in a toilet cubicle in the exhibition hall in Cologne-Deutz.
The baby was "hidden" there, as the police and prosecutors jointly announced.
An autopsy has already been performed.
It revealed "that the infant may have lived," it said.
According to the police, there is currently a suspicion of a completed homicide.
A murder commission was set up by the Cologne police.
The investigation into the exact cause of death of the newborn boy is ongoing.
The search is now also on for the mother of the dead baby.
