German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stressed the importance of resuming negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in order to reach a peaceful settlement quickly.
"Our demand is that negotiations be resumed, that negotiations between Russia and Ukraine become clearer, and that an agreement be reached very quickly," said Scholz, during a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron in Berlin, RIA Novosti news agency quoted him as saying.
Schultz added that the Russian military operation has been going on for several weeks, so it is important to move forward very quickly to end this crisis.
Last week, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that no significant progress had been made in the negotiations with Ukraine regarding a cessation of hostilities between the two sides, stressing that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) countries are doing everything they can to prevent an agreement in this field.
